The End of the "Texture Trap"
The idea for KEMPT was born out of personal frustration. Like thousands of other women, I loved the polished, powerful look of a 12-hour slick-back. But day after day, I found myself battling persistent breakouts along my hairline. I was stuck in the 'Texture Trap'—using expensive skincare to fix the damage caused by heavy, pore-clogging hair waxes and gels.
When I realized that traditional styling products were loaded with comedogenic oils and drying alcohols that migrate to the skin, I knew the industry needed a reset. I founded KEMPT to create a product that I couldn't find on the shelves: a high-hold styler that actively respects the skin barrier. Starting our journey at the University of Tennessee, we set out to prove that you don't have to choose between a flawless finish and clear skin.
